How can I tell if coaching is for me?
How do you feel about your career? Your love life? Your finances? Everyone has at least one thing they want to change in their
life and coaching is a great place to figure out what you want and how to go about getting it.
How does coaching work?
Coaching is conducted on the phone, which makes it possible to "meet" any time, anywhere. Sessions are 30 minutes long, and,
because they're on the phone, it's easy to fit coaching into busy schedules. Typically there are four sessions a month but
scheduling and frequency of sessions is flexible - we'll will work with you to design a coaching relationship that works for you.
What's the free 30 minute consultation like?
It's a chance for us to talk about coaching - what it's like, how it works and what you'd like to accomplish through coaching. You
can set up a phone consultation by calling (510)865-7115 or sending an e-mail to melinda@melindaelliottcoaching.com.
What's the difference between coaching and therapy?
A lighthearted answer (that therapists don't like) is that a therapist will help you figure out why you're miserable, a coach will help
you figure out how to stop being miserable. A more serious answer is that therapists are trained to diagnose emotional problems
and work with clients to heal emotional wounds. Coaching focuses on helping people identify and live their most fulfilling life, make
powerful choices and work through emotional upsets.

What does a Life Coach Do?
You might already have an idea about what a Life Coach does. Maybe give you some advice?
Tell you what career would be best for you? Propose strategies to become healthier? Nope! A
life coach rarely offers advice, they believe that only one person has the answers to your life
challenges - you!
A Life Coach:
- Works with you to identify what you really want out of life and what's getting in your way.
- Holds you accountable and helps you to stay on track and complete your plans.
- Acts as a human mirror for you by sharing an outside and unbiased perspective on what
they notice when talking to you.
A coach works with the whole you, helping you figure out how to get that promotion, find a loving partner, solve family issues, find
that dream job - or whatever is up for you right now!
